Festival Feels | Mermaid Tales | West Edmonton Mall | August 1 – August 28

Edmonton’s scene is great for hosting festivals meant for adults, but West Edmonton Mall gives you and your kids the opportunity to live out their dreams of meeting mermaids. WEM is hosting Mermaid Tales until August 28th. For $2.00 you can let your kids aboard the Santa Maria for stories, songs and dances.

Anytime August | Vikings Exhibition | Royal Alberta Museum | April 18 – October 20

Put on your helmet and join the Viking Horde this August with your friends and family at the Royal Alberta Museum.  Swing an axe, row a ship, and explore over 650 Viking artifacts including a 37-metre Viking warship. Tickets ranging from $10.00 - $19.00.

Go Green | Henry Singer Park | Mark Messier Trail and 142nd Street | Anytime

Henry Singer is a wetland park in Edmonton’s northwest industrial area and a great escape on hot summer days during your lunch break.  The park also borders a sporting field for rec leagues to take advantage of and avoid rush hour traffic.

Fun Fact: The Henry Singer Wetlands are named after the late Henry Singer, an Alberta-based men’s fashion designer.

Festival Feels | Cariwest Festival | Churchill Square & Downtown Area | August 9 - 11

Downtown Edmonton is known for its festivals during the summer, but Cariwest Festival is one of the most underrated Carribean Carnivals in all of Canada. They celebrate 35 years of Carnival in Edmonton with the Parade filled with lively Soca music and Caribbean Village in Churchill Square with entertainment and Caribbean cuisine. The best part is, the festival is free!

Anytime August | Johnny Cash: Ring of Fire Musical | Citadel Theatre | July – August 11

Relive Johnny Cash’s amazing journey as an artist through the Ring of Fire Musical at Citadel Theatre until August 11. The musical will feature two hours of classics such as Man in Black, I Walk The Line, I’ve Been Everywhere, and Folsom Prison Blues. Shows start at 1:30 pm on Sundays and 7:30 pm every other day.
