The Childrens Heart Society is a local organization aimed at supporting families of children with acquired and congenital heart disease. The Hope Builders decided to support their run this year because the event focuses on children and youth and bettering their quality of life.
Join the Carrington Hope Builders after the run for lunch and entertainment at the Willow Haven Grand Opening located at 5624 7th Ave following the run.

A world in which children with heart disease and their families achieve an optimal quality of life.
•To work towards the day when no child will die from heart disease
•To ensure the best possible care for children suffering from heart disease
•To improve the quality of life for children and families living with heart disease
•To educate the public about heart disease in children and their many needs
The Children’s Heart Society was founded by concerned parents in Edmonton, Alberta whose children had been diagnosed with heart defects. They recognized the need for a support group for families who were living with congenital heart disease. The CHS has been in operation since 1982 and in this time the CHS has helped thousands of children and families. For the past 29 years we have managed to raise almost a half million dollars for research and hospital equipment for the Pediatric Cardiology Program and related services at the Stollery Childrens Hospital.
The Childrens Heart Society impacts the community in three ways. We provide direct support to children and their families struggling with heart disease through a variety of programs. We also promote general awareness of this condition and try to educate the public of its existence and the need for more research and improved medical interventions so that no child will die from heart disease. Lastly we fundraise to support both our own programs and the Pediatric Cardiology program at the Stollery Childrens Hospital. We provide the hospital with research grants, new equipment, programming funds, supplies, toys and time.
